Your first visit to Hercules Caves
A short checklist for a first visit, focused on the decisions that actually affect the day: when to go, which ticket category applies, how to get back and what remains unverified.
Most needed
Before you leave
Check the official ticket platform for the current hours and your admission category. The published window is 09:00–17:00 (checked 4 November 2026), and the four categories distinguish Moroccan/resident and foreign visitors, adults and children aged 7–13. A dated Google Maps listing differs on opening time, so give the official page priority.
Getting there and back
The caves are on the Atlantic coast near Cap Spartel, about 14 km from Tangier. Agree the route, price and return arrangement with your driver before setting out; a one-way drop-off can leave you looking for a ride back. We do not publish fixed taxi fares, bus numbers or timetables because we have not verified them.
On site
The official description mentions dark, humid caverns, so choose footwear with grip and keep a light layer for the coast. Confirm with staff which areas are open. Do not infer facilities such as step-free access, toilets or a guaranteed parking space from a ticket category or a photograph.
Before you go
What should I check first?
Confirm the current opening hours and your ticket category on the official ministry platform, then arrange transport that includes the return to Tangier.
Should I book a tour?
That depends on your plans. A commercial tour price can include transport and other services and is not the admission tariff. Independent visits and packages are separate purchases; compare what is actually included.
Where can I see images of the caves?
The gallery on this guide shows the caves and the nearby coast. Check the official platform for current visit arrangements before travelling.
