The Cap Spartel coastal route from Hercules Caves

For visitors with a car or a pre-arranged driver, the coastline around the caves is the natural extension of the visit. This is a route idea, not a verified road guide or a timetable.

Most needed

The shape of the route

Begin at the caves on the Cap Spartel massif, then follow the Atlantic coast towards the Achakkar area and the cape viewpoints before returning to Tangier. The Moroccan National Tourist Office presents this coast as one of Tangier’s natural landscapes. We do not publish a road-by-road description, distances or driving times.

  • Caves first, inside the published 09:00–17:00 window
  • Coastal viewpoints as optional, separately managed stops
  • Return to Tangier agreed before departure

Verify before relying on it

We have not verified current road access, parking areas, viewpoint opening conditions, seasonal closures or pedestrian paths. Coastal weather and wind can change conditions quickly. Confirm locally, and do not assume a cave ticket covers any other stop along the route.

For photographers

Strong Atlantic light and the contrast with the cave interior shape most photos on this coast. Keep captions accurate about where each shot was taken.

Before you go

Is the coastal route suitable for self-drive?

It can be planned, but we do not verify current road conditions, signage or parking. Check a live map and local advice on the day.

How long is the route?

We do not publish verified distances or driving times. Treat it as a flexible half-day shape and agree the return with your driver.

Are the viewpoints open at sunset?

We have not verified opening conditions for other stops. A late sunset does not extend the caves’ published 09:00–17:00 window.
