From Tangier Ville station to Hercules Caves

Tangier Ville is the city’s rail station. From there, the caves are a separate coastal trip; this page covers the transfer decisions without claiming unverified bus lines or fares.

Most needed

From the platform to the coast

Arrange an onward taxi or pre-booked transfer from the station to the Cap Spartel area. The official platform places the caves about 14 km from Tangier; it does not give a station-to-cave distance or travel time. Confirm the price and whether the driver will wait for the return before setting out.

If you have a connecting train

Work backwards from your departure time. Allow for the published 09:00–17:00 visiting window, a guide-suggested 45–60 minutes at the caves, the two transfers and any queue. We do not verify journey times, so keep a generous buffer rather than a tight connection.

  • Confirm the cave’s opening status for your date
  • Agree a return pickup point at the station or in town
  • Keep ticket purchases and transport as separate costs

Scheduled alternatives

A sightseeing bus operator publishes a route serving the Cap Spartel area, but its timetable, season and stop locations must be checked with the operator. We do not state local bus numbers, standard fares or a guaranteed frequency.

Before you go

Is there a direct train or tram to the caves?

No rail service to the caves is described in the sources we checked. The trip requires a road transfer from the city.

How much is a taxi from the station?

We do not publish a fare because we have not verified current rates. Agree the price and return arrangement before departure.

Can I do the caves before an evening train?

It can be planned, but check the published hours, allow for both transfers and keep a large time buffer. We do not guarantee journey times.
