Hercules Caves and the Achakkar coast

The caves, the Achakkar area and Cap Spartel are usually mentioned together in descriptions of Tangier’s Atlantic coast. This page keeps that geography clear without claiming beach facilities we have not verified.

Most needed

The coastal setting

The ministry platform places the caves on the Cap Spartel massif about 14 km from Tangier, and the Moroccan National Tourist Office presents the surrounding coast as part of the same natural area. Achakkar is commonly used as a coastal reference point near the caves; we do not publish a verified walking distance between them.

Do not assume beach services

We have not verified current beach access points, swimming conditions, lifeguards, seasonal closures, parking, toilets or named beach establishments. Atlantic conditions can change quickly. Check local notices and your driver’s advice before treating a beach stop as a guaranteed part of the day.

A sensible order

Visit the caves within the published 09:00–17:00 window, then decide on the coastal stop based on weather, daylight and your return arrangement. Cave admission, transport and anything at the beach are separate purchases and separate sets of conditions.

Before you go

Is Achakkar beach next to Hercules Caves?

Both are referenced in the Cap Spartel coastal area, but we do not publish a verified distance or walking route. Use a live map and local advice.

Can I swim there?

We have not verified swimming conditions, lifeguard cover or water quality. Follow local signage and notices on the day.

Is the beach included in the cave ticket?

No published source suggests that. The official admission categories cover the caves; treat any coastal stop separately.
